Either category of data may contain personal information.

How does Magnificent use personal information?
Magnificent uses personal information for the following purposes:
- billing
- customer support
- confirmation of identity
- notification of changes
- configuring accounts for access to web applications
- internal analysis and record-keeping
This Privacy Policy will be updated if there is any change to the purpose of data collection.
Monitoring and analytics
Magnificent uses libre services like Unami and Matomo to monitor traffic to and from our web sites. The system uses data on each page of each of our sites to anonymously aggregate website statistics - 'analytics' - such as the number of page views, the number of unique visitors, the time a visitor spends on a website, and common entry and exit points into and from the website. We use this to determine our capacity requirements, validate our content and service approaches, and ensure we invest our limited resources wisely. We host these Unami and Matomo services ourselves, and control the data collected and held, meaning that there are no third parties involved.
Sharing data with third parties
Your data will not be shared with other parties, except to provide agreed services, or for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.
Links to other websites
This privacy policy does not cover links to other websites that do not have magnificent.nz in their URL, including sites hosted by Magnificent for our customers. They are third-party websites and you should read the privacy statements on the other websites you visit.
Cookies and other monitoring techniques
Magnificent websites and web applications hosted by Magnificent may use cookies to maintain the state of your web session in accordance with best technical practices.
Magnificent uses Mautic, an open source marketing automation system hosted by Magnificent to automate email communications. Mautic landing pages and any emails we send through it may contain "web beacons". Web beacons (also referred to as clear gifs, pixel tags, and single-pixel gifs) are small electronic files that are embedded onto a web page or an email to document traffic and for website analytics without collecting any personal information, that, for example, allow us to count users who have visited web pages or opened our emails.
Financial information
Should any financial payments be required by using a credit card, like for institutional memberships, public donations, or related services, our payment processor Stripe has their own privacy policy which varies by region.
All access to financial information is strictly limited to professional staff who need to process those data. No such data are given to any person, organization, or group who does not need to access those data.
Magnificent only uses online payment processing services with world class security and strong reputations. Magnificent does not store, nor does it have access to, your credit card information, bank account numbers, or other account data sent to those processing services.
How does Magnificent store personal information?
Magnificent stores data in New Zealand wherever possible. Under some circumstances we may host some data outside of New Zealand, normally in Germany, for infrastructural cost reasons. We actively avoid hosting data in jurisdictions with user-hostile policies, including China and the United States.
In accordance with generally accepted practice, where personal information under this policy would require the use of a secure website, for example, financial transactions, these will take place under secure website and corresponding SSL certificate registered by Magnificent. Magnificent may enter your information in a database with appropriate computer, network, and communications security.
How long will Magnificent hold personal information?
We will only keep your personal information for as long as required to complete the intended purpose. However, we may be required to keep some of your Personal Information for specified periods of time, for example under certain laws relating to companies, money laundering, and financial reporting legislation.
Collected personal information is destroyed when no longer required.
How can I request changes to my personal information?
You may request access to the Personal Information we hold about you, or request that we update, delete or correct any Personal Information we hold about you, by contacting the Privacy Officer in writing.
We will review your request as soon as possible, within a reasonable timeframe. If we are unable to give you access to the information you have requested, we will give you reasons for this decision when we respond to your request.
Under what circumstances might Magnificent be required to disclose personal information?
Magnificent will never publish, sell, trade, rent, or share personal information with third parties other than uses specified in this policy and for the public health and safety purposes listed below.
Magnificent may outsource selected operational activities and services. For this purpose, personal information may, as required, be handled by individuals, professionals or organisations working under contract to Magnificent.
In accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, Magnificent reserves the right to disclose personal information where it believes on reasonable grounds that the disclosure of information is necessary to prevent or lessen a serious and imminent threat to public health or public safety or the life or health of the individual concerned or another individual.
Magnificent also reserves the right to disclose personal information where authorised by the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner if the public interest or benefit to another person substantially outweighs the breach of privacy.
What happens if Magnificent changes this policy?

We will notify you of any such changes by posting an updated version on our website. Please check this Privacy Policy periodically for changes as it is your responsibility to do so.
